I gues there will be some better optimizaton with the new planes, if I am not wrong EK uses currently / pre COVID B77W's for instance configured with First Class on quite some routes, shorter ones I guess only not actually offering a First Class product. I guess eventually this will be the end of F service eventually to destinations such as MLE or SEZ, but if there will be a decent Business Class offered this is fully ok. On routes with such duration the actual service is closer to Business Class than First except for the seat and Champagne. Nevertheless in future I doubt the fares will be adjusted for connecting flights, hence, you will pay the same you did before but will not enjoy F for all the journey
