The change was voluntary? Was the new fare for business or was the new fare for Premium Plus / Premium Economy?

If it was for Premium Plus and not business, then you should be able to up-fare to business but it may be expensive.

On voluntary changes, you are responsible for the fare difference.

No being part of the conversation, it is hard to speculator, why the Premium Plus fare was used / quote. But again there is no reason not to refare to business, it with probably be about the same as it would have been earlier.

Cabin changes can results if the desire is to keep the fare (without an increase) on a voluntary change.
