I am not convinced CK is primarily for the most profitable big dollar large quantity flier. I know some CKs are that, but I suspect, without evidence, CK is a "quid pro quo" type of arrangement for many that are provided CK.

Yesterday, on my flight from DFW to SLC, I am number seven on the upgrade list. DFW to SLC is usually a pretty easy upgrade for a EXP, and I have a well above average year over year dollar spend as COVID has required me to fly more than pre COVID. I asked a Angel how I was number seven, when I am typically number one on the upgrade wait list for most every flight (with the exception of TPA CLT which I for some reason do not perform well on that route's upgrade list). The Angel told me seven CKs in front of me. Seven- going to a Delta hub.

I asked myself why might this be. Came to the speculation all the DFW millionaires/ senior corporate executives are flying to their Park City summer home for the traditional President Day three day ski weekend. These are some of the "bigger fish" in the DFW region, and I suspect Chairman Parker is gifting them CK.

All just speculation from my fox hole..... but I sense CK primarily is not about big profitable fliers on AA... but a quid pro quo tool for AA senior leadership to dole out as beneficial. Which nothing is wrong with- but don't want to be personally "fooled" CK is exclusively about the individual that is flying Y and F on AA on a regular basis.
