Delta SkyClub on arrival can I "game the system"
So I understand (correct me if I'm wrong) that I can't pay to enter the SkyClub upon arrival at an airport. The thing is I arrive about 11am and won't get picked up until about 6pm (live way outside the city). So I could a) sit around in the airport for a long layover spending money at airport bars but that's not fun really, b) could just spend less than $100 to get a hotel room, take a nap, hit the fitness c) game the system to stay in the SkyClub at $39 with Delta Platinum Amex.
Let's say I choose "C". I could book a miles flight for about 6k miles leaving that night, a "connecting flight" that I never intend to take, check in and then pay and use the lounge. But when I leave the lounge, is there a way to "de-plane" or whatever it is so they aren't waiting for me? I wouldn't necessarily expect the miles back. I could book to a destination I might use in the future, explain a "flat tire" but I'd be in the lounge already. Any ideas? Don't want to risk my 700k miles balance either by pulling a stunt that would get me banned or something...
Ideas?
