No. It's for any phone that supports T-Mobile's Wi-Fi Calling. I have a grandfathered, super cheap, 14-year-old family plan. I use wi-fi calling while overseas and never charged a cent. Yes, the free international data roaming included with my plan is borderline useless.
I suppose that may be the case and I may have mixed it up with having an unlimited international calling plan that doesn’t charge if you call certain countries while stateside but charges 25cents if making a call (via WiFi) from abroad to anywhere (e.g. such as Australia to India) except stateside.
