The problem that I am becoming increasingly aware of is that on many airline websites you cannot book by fare code. Cathay's lowest fares earn NOTHING, so if you want the miles you need to make sure as the above posters mention that you are in H,B,Y. B & Y also offer 1.5 points.

Very helpful agents, and ended up purchasing a B fare ticket that they sold at a discounted (non-published) fare over the phone. They gave me a discount that was better than any travel agent had found... ( I needed the extra points to requalify for Plat) You also earn elite bonus miles on Cathay.
