For the last 3 years I'd flown longhaul in J, be it BA, QF or AA. Short haul in Y isn't really a problem (45 mins LHR-AMS, 1hr BNE-SYD). So it was with some dread that I looked forward to a Y longhaul flight (LHR-ORD). To my surprise it was comfortable, I guess due to MRTC and seat back tv's. The food was satisfactory (it was strange to have all courses together again!), and the FA's didn't treat us that much more worse than J!!

The one thing that will be truly horrible is if/when I loose status and have to use the Y checkin at LHR T3. Almost as bad as Y chekin for BA/QF at T4 for the Australian flights! Not having the lounge to relax in will be another loss
