Transiting SIN on a BKK-SIN-PNH route, which airport hotel?

I am a US citizen and have been in Thailand for a month.

I plan to book a flight later this week from Bangkok to Singapore to Phnom Penh on Singapore Airlines (second flight operated by SilkAir). It would include an 18 hour stopover in Singapore.

Am I correct that this is routing is bookable and that I can/should also book the Terminal 3 Ambassador Hotel as my transit hotel? Not the Terminal 1 Aerotel?
