I think the purpose of getting Marriott Lifetime Status is simply to no longer have to make excuses for weekend trips or staycations in order to get up to 50 nights per year to keep Platinum. As a 100% leisure traveller, Hyatt’s lifetime requirements would effectively require living in hotels for quite a few years, it’s just not really a programme geared towards incentivising leisure travellers (I have achieved Globalist through the recent promo and will flirt with them over the next 2 years though). For Marriott, I have a few favourites (usually former SPG hotels e.g Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit) so having LTP would enable me to spend 20 nights a year there and a few nights in other places and I could also try out a few independent hotels now and again. So you just need to find out how it works for you.

As a former 25-stay SPGer as well, I’m short on nights so will be using this promo to play catch up as these opportunities won’t present themselves very often.
