There is a flip side to this. Some of us work full time overseas yet maintain residences & families in the UK, but remain non-resident. The purpose of our travel to the UK is leave (vacation/holidays). I don’t know what the strict letter of the law is, but I’m confident its not a problem!
And some need to return to the UK to renew visas or avoid overstaying them despite not necessarily wanting to travel at the moment.
