Existential questions aside: the Palmer House is gorgeous. It just had a major update and renovation; hence, its huge debt burden. The Drake is very nice, but its grandeur is dated, in some ways rundown.
You wouldn't think it from the rooms!
I will grant you that the lobby and bar areas are fantastic though.
It's a real throwback.
