looking for carry-on roller boards with removable wheels.
By removing the wheels the roller board can be of a larger size for overhead bin storage, probably adding 1.5 - 2 inches of very valuable increased inside capacity. The removed wheels can then be put inside the luggage for storage before boarding the flight and replaced afterwards for easy pulling.

Has anyone heard of such luggage? Some years ago I think there were some manufacturers, but I have not been able to find anything online or in luggage stores.

I would think that any luggage manufacturer might want to develop such a product and be the first one the block to capture the market. I'm sure travelers would buy that product, especially if it added another couple of inches of very valuable inside capacity.
