Crossed my mind too. Couldn't see AC agreeing to cancel all of those routes out of largesse, but maybe there is little commercial traffic to the sun destinations so hard to cover the fuel costs for AC anyway. The fact everyone else bought in too suggests that other things to convince them were at least discussed in private.
