We are italians residing abroad. We went to Positano and Capri in August 2020 and had no problems. We quarantined in Rome with family for 2 weeks before heading to the amalfi. Hopefully there wont any problems this year.

I know that you didn’t ask this, but I doubt Italy will be open to tourism by May. I don’t know where you are resident or what your citizenship is, but I’d be hesitant handing over cash now for a trip in May. 2022 is a different story.
