Now that Novavax and J&J have produced good efficacy numbers, to add to Pfizer, AZ and Moderna, it's only months now before many countries have significant excess stocks of vaccines (I know the UK has orders that cover at least 3x the population and, when these become available, will quickly run out of people to vaccinate. The plan is to divert these to poorer countries. I should imagine that the US will behave similarly. Israel is preparing to donate surplus to Palestine (but has to keep quiet on that since the Palestinians don't want to be seen to be accepting it). That won't, of course, be nearly sufficient globally but it's a start. Plus J&J is the real game changer, being single dose and requiring less extreme treatment, it is ideal for deployment in countries with less developed infrastructure. Obviously countries will look after their own citizens first, but I am fully confident that by September if not earlier, the programmes will be getting underway in poorer countries also.
