As a percentage of segments flown, I suspect that I paid for F more in 2020 than in any other year.

Sure, sometimes that backfired like a couple weeks ago when I found myself in paid F on a CLT-DFW flight that departed with 3 empty seats in F but these days the stakes are just too high to risk being in Y.

Pre-COVID I never would have driven DFW-ELP had AA run out of F seats to sell me. In 2020, I had no qualms at all about renting a car and driving to ELP when first class sold out. (I would have considered WN out of DAL but didn't want to deal with my car being crosstown at DFW since I knew I'd be able to get back to DFW in F).

(Oh, and just to bring this back to topic, my CLT-DFW flight had the standard cheese and grapes tray. No "fresh" "Mediterranean" Zoe in sight.)
