Correctly, right now there is no evidence, one way or another, as to whether vaccinations prevent contraction or spread - because nobody has done the testing. However, with Israel's programme so far ahead, we will be getting that data, at least for the Pfizer vaccine, in the next few weeks.
But this issue needs to be addressed, and needs to be addressed soon. The virus won't disappear overnight, and will probably take quite a few years to be eliminated, if ever. If we want to return to economic growth and rising prosperity for individual countries, and humanity generally, then we have no choice but to find ways to open borders.
From what I read from well known scientists on the internet, if the vaccinations keep going to wealthy countries, those countries will be causing the virus to further multiply and mutate in poorer countries eventually rendering the vaccinations useless as far as immunity down the road. So equal access is extremely important to get countries widely open again.
