I would steer clear of transferring any AMEX points to Marriott Bonvoy - AMEX points are so much more valuable if you transfer them to a number of other airline partners and book flights in economy or even business class depending on the airline. Try calling Marriott directly and see how much it is to pay cash for upgrading your room, if that's even possible.
