Hey,
today I would like to share my beautiful experience of my stay at the fabulous Mandarin Oriental Bodrum back in 2019. I had a phenomenal stay with no big issues and great weather. This was before Corona and my last stay before quarantine!
I also made a YouTube video of my trip at the Mandarin Oriental giving a full tour and review:
I hope you find this interesting and imagine being there when watching the video!
Review:
Pre-arrival communication was excellent. I booked one night before my stay and the room I wanted wasn't available anymore, so I booked a category below and the hotel upgraded me.
The transfer was smooth but rather long, Around a hour, but the road sits at the coast so that you can enjoy the blue water and lush surroundings. At one point even a little sight of the Aman Bodrrum is visible. I had not yet the chance to visit it yet but It sure looks amazing.
The Mandarin Oriental`s location is very stunning as it's located uphill at a coast with the beac being the lowest rare at the sea and the residences enjoying a beautiful location at the top.
Because the resorts grounds are so spread out it can take a little walk to get from the second beach to main building. But buggy service is provided that picks you up and drops you off anywhere.
Within the hotel's resort grounds everything is very well maintained as little paths lead through lush greenery to the different places. You will find two beaches, one being the main and biggest beach and one only open in summer as I went in October. The water is very warm private as the coast separates the area from other hotels.
The main building is a spectacular construction of a aesthetic area overlooking the whole resort and coast. Thhere you will find the reception, jewelry shop inside and outside a big fireplace with a seating area where the check-in is also handled.
The resort has two different parts, one being four guest and one for the residences (wich part I also toured in my video). The residence part isn't normally for hotel guests. The guest rooms are spread out over the hotel grounds depending on size, category or sea view. We stayed at a Sea view room which had a massive bathroom with a window into the bathroom and a huge bathtub. The room was very chic and stylish with a lot of wood and pastel colors. As the hotel partners wit Bang& Olufsen the room had not one, but two tvīs. Another wow factor was the terrace overlooking the Aegean Sea and as most of the rooms have a sea view no room being in front of each other you enjoy a exceptional view with two sun beds, a table and a tree on the balcony.
Breakfast is served in the main building being under the reception and entrance but also first floor. The breakfast was very delicious and offered a wide variety of fresh bread, yoghurt, sweets and orange juice. Everything else could be ordered from the menu. Lunch was served at the pool bar or at the beach with being the most popular choice for guest as I was told. Overall there are 3 dining experiences - First the only seafood restaurants close by the beach surrounded by beautifully lit lanterns and straight cut bushes, looking like a fairy tale forest. The second one is a mediterranean only restaurant at the breakfast place which has an amazing outdoor seating area, especially in the warmer nights this is an absolute must. The last one being closed due to low season.
There is a lot within the resort: water sports, hiking, swimming but the most extra being a Chanel store on the resorts ground which is unfortunately only open in high season and a house yacht.
Te staff were all very friendly and did more than possible to let you feel happy with also being that the manager gave me a tour of the complete hotel and residential area ( where I also saw some guests ) he even told me which mega star lives there and uses one of the villa as a summer house. I am telling you in my video, if you wanna know who, but psst keep it a secret.
The resorts excellent spa is a huge part of the hotel with two pools and a variety of treatments being offered. Overall the resort was fairly empty due to the factor that the resort is so huge but still elegant and that it was simply low season.
Feel free to share your thoughts and experiences with your stay at this hotel and also feel free to ask anything!
