For data point. I redeemed points for 2 J tickets using AA points. I called AA and get QR PNR. With the tip I learned from here I using Malaysia airline website to choose my seats. I was able to pick quad seat. ( 7E,7F) on all segments. At first I was not able to choose seat on Doh-MLE, so I call QATAR which he also had the same problem. I tried again several weeks later on Malaysia airline website and I was able to choose the seats. I do not have any status with any airline. My trip is in February and I choose my seats in December.
