That's not the right way to think of it. On 1st January 2022, YOU ALREADY WILL BE SILVER.

The "grace period" on your "old" Gold card is because they realise they can't get your new physical Silver card to you in time for your new year at this lower status, given that the decision to grant you Silver was only confirmed on 1 January 2022, and that year starts immediately.

All physical cards are issued with this extra "grace period" solely for logisitical purposes. That means you can obtain Gold benefits by showing the card until its expiry date, despite having silver status. You are not Gold. That you are now into the last 3 months of the validity of your Gold card does NOT mean that your previous "year" for collecting XPs is still running.

It does NOT mean you are still Gold, and the date on the card is never aligned to your membership year (its expiry is always shown as being offset by 3 months from the actual year end).

Yes, this is your qualification period. It was what you do between the start date (1st Jan) and the end date (31 Dec) that matters. These dates will never change unless at some point you go up in status.

In your case though, there simply is no question right now for any dates other than Dec-Jan to have relevance for you.
