Thanks much for the DP. So atleast it sems like you don't completely lose the MCE fees. Getting back and eVoucher is still ok as you can atleast use it later.

If you want a refund, I would call and ask. The worst you get is a "no" as you at least have a credit.
I haven't booked a reservation yet, was just wondering about it since I usually book with United and they are fairly straightforward in refunding the seat fees if you cancel an award reservation. AA doesn't seem to have any official policy on seat fees for award reservations and the DP above seems to indicate, you can atleast get an eVoucher. I'll probably have to plan to allocate some time to call AA and see if we can get a "definitive" answer.
