In some (many/most/all? not sure) cases where you can checkout with Paypal, you can do it without being a member and without signing up -- Paypal is simply acting as the payment processor. Pick one of the things mentioned in the thread/wiki that you are already spending on or are likely to spend on organically and give it a try, not much to lose except a few minutes of your time...
