The risk with 1) is that your funds might expire before you want to fly again. The risk with 2) is that at any point this <$100 trick might stop working. I'll betting that it will keep working, so I'm waiting until later in the year.
Yes. Sigh. This is why I asked. Surely we will be able to resume some travel by the end of 2021 but there is a risk, esp for folks with multiple type credits. Ending up with $300-400 in travel funds that may go unused is annoying.
