To my understanding, DL lets BE pax including Medallions pay for seats 72 hours prior to departure but at 24 hours the option disappears and it's whatever the system assigns, though in my experience agents are able to change BE seats to regular Y seats that aren't labeled as C+, Preferred, or exit rows.
