I've only stayed at the Okura once. The (standard) rooms are nothing special at all - think 1970s Hilton décor. In fact, the entire place feels like a bizarre time-warp. The service was very professional, if a little over-formal for my taste.
All the Okuras are strange, asceptic time warps. Sometimes it works (Tokyo and the "Bond, James Bond" lobby, you almost expect Blofeld to pop up smoking a stogie, flanked by two hotties in miniskirts), sometimes it doesn't (Shanghai).
