The Westin opened as a category 7. I understand that they may start at a lower category, but a category 5 in the Maldives? Maybe if they have standard non-villa rooms in a common building, but I don't think that will be the case.

I think the location of JW Marriott Phu Quoc has kept the category low for the quality of the property. One of the best suites I've ever stayed in was at JW Phu Quoc. It's a great property!
