Although technocally allowed under the rules, I would expect to get a very frosty reception in NB. They take COVID very seriously and aren’t likely to look kindly on this obviously unnecessary stay in their province. Having said that they cannot stop you as their only remedy is to put you on the next flight out, but they could decide to hold you in the airport overnight.

You can judge for yourself whether the increased risk to you and the people of NB is worth it for a some extra miles, but I am pretty sure the officer receiving you and the people of.NB will not judge you well.
