I'm curious (and sure someone has a good answer). FlightAware usually shows the filed flightplan route in blue dashed line and then the actual path in solid green. For this flight, the blue dashed line approximates the actual there-and-back path with waypoints, instead of the originally intended path to JFK. Do the pilots re-file a new flight plan route in the middle of an emergency situation? I wouldn't have expected that in an emergency, the flight plan would formally be re-filed.
