Approved reasons for entry into NB include: "You are travelling through New Brunswick to reach another destination".

You're supposed to register with the NB Travel Registration Program, and while AC might not be sticklers if they know you're a transit passenger, I'd bet you'll have a hard time getting a hotel without doing so.
