This thread just highlights that, whatever Marriott did, some of you would not be satisfied. Simply extending status would have been met with "But I've already requalified..." (cf: the BA thread) and would only encourage people to use competitor chains.
By giving night-credit, (a) it counts towards Lifetime (b) requires people to actually stay to requalify but (c) makes achieving the NEXT level more viable. Also, when factors in the Marriott credit card, it's even more generous.
- Silver: 15 + 5 = 20 --> Silver requalified by default; 5 required for Gold
- Gold: 15 + 13 = 28 --> Gold requalified; 12 required for Platinum
- Platinum: 15 + 25 = 40 --> Platinum requalified; 35 required for Titanium
- Titanium: 15 + 38 = 53 --> Platinum requalified; 22 required for Titanium requalification
I guess those who are Titanium have a case, but if they are Titanium, then 22 nights is unlikely to be an issue?!
