I'll see what happens with the new programme, though at the moment it seems identical to the old one in HK. I'd say that it has worked well here for staycations.... when you often get a hotel room with HKD500/1000 per night of hotel credit (65/130USD) AND a 30% discount for being Titanium there were a lot of great deals to be had - I'd call out the W Hotel for being particularly generous as I remember one buffet for five including unlimited champagne, oysters and lobsters that cost me less than 2000 HKD/USD250 new cash (ok, I had to pay for the room too of course!).
As far as I can tell the revised version appears identical, with the same exclusions. As a Titanium member the 30% off takes the Marriott restaurants into the "typical" price I'd pay for a restaurant, and potentially a bit lower when you consider the quality and the trend towards more unlimited deals. I feel the programme has done a good job of driving me to spend in hotels rather than eat out, even during the pandemic, so it's probably a good thing that it continues. After all, I need some help to hit that reduced Ambassador spend when rooms are "so cheap"....
