It doesn't help your sister.... but they are not eliminated, just suspended for the near term.
Personally, I would have her bring along any kind of quick prep dry things that can make it through security. Or find things at EWR and buy right before the flight.
BTW, did you pull the trigger on the upgrades to Polaris at the 600 ish price??
Also the Tapas box is considered vegetarian.
