From personal experience - if you have booked both outbound and inbound as a single transaction then you will be able to amend the inbound online with ease. However, if you have had to phone to have the inbound added seperatly then you're not able to amend the flights online. So I don't se the point in phoning to add a dummy inbound just to hve to phone again in a few days time unless you would be happy to keep the inbound as a safety net just incase your preferred inbound is not available.
