Generally, flights on non-*A partners don't earn SQM. The only others that do are airlines that are not members of *A but are associated with it in some way (e.g. Eurowings is owned by Lufthansa; Juneyao is a *A "Connecting Partner" or something like that).

Could this be an indication that VA might be getting closer to Star Alliance?
The xQM earning has been in place for a couple years, so this isn't new. Just scroll up this thread. It seems to just be business as usual.
