The shuttles can be a good deal, but beware that it's impossible to know how long the ride will take. If you've got to be in BH by a certain time, it would be better to spend the money on a cab.

One other note on taking a cab in LA: You definately should print out a map of where you want to go before you get in the cab. Cab companies/drivers tend to work a section of the city and may not be familiar with anything outside of that section. It's not dangerous or anything, but it's a hassle to keep pulling over so the cabbie can check his Thomas guide.

It's only a problem when you are getting picked up at the airport. I've had a couple of pickups from LAX where the cabbie was totally clueless.
