And I'm expecting a list of acceptable tests to emerge fairly shortly once it's been around the consultational houses, but I think you can assume RT-PCR, LAMP and Lateral Flow will be on the list at least for England. Maybe Scotland will want tougher restrictions which may be why this hasn't been specified yet.
Taking a LAMP test at LHR just before going through security, and then coming back to the UK less than 72 hours later (using that same test result) is an easy and fairly inexpensive way for everyone who needs to go on short trips, such as business travellers, to comply with the new regulations.

However, it does nothing in the way of protection from bringing back Covid to UK after a short trip. Given this, I hope that they make it so that sub-72 hour trips are exempted and does not require a test. They probably won’t though.
