Maybe. We shall see.

Airlines may have no choice. If countries start insisting that people who visit the country have had a vaccination, then airlines have to check - or they will be responsible for returning passengers who arrive at their destination without the vaccination. And, airlines are already having to check that passengers have had recent Covid-19 tests from approved providers before people fly. International airlines at least. And there are other situations where there are required vaccinations. E.g. see here. And of course airlines will check for required visas before allowing a passenger onboard. I don't see that checking for vaccination status is any more difficult than any of the previous.

Nor do I see that there is any more liability than the already existing requirements.
