In reply to the OP, everything you say in your two reviews is true but I just want to make a couple points. The Anantara Siam Bangkok is the 3rd rebranding of this property over the past two decades...it was a Four Seasons for a number of years and before that, was originally built as The Regent Hotel. It is one of Bangkok's original grand dame luxury hotels and it shows, especially in the rooms. However, as you point out, the public areas are old style grand and stylish and not the glass and chrome bling often found in more modern luxury hotels build in Bangkok in recent years. As for BTS access, keep in mind this hotel was build way before the Skytrain was build. During normal times, this hotel is know for the quality of it's restaurants, including the Madison Steakhouse and the Spice Road Thai and their Italian restaurant. If someone wants a a taste of old Bangkok luxury this hotel fits the bill, while if they prefer something modern, they the WA or St.R certainly is more appropriate.
