5 Membership Rewards points is not the same as 5 percent.

Membership Rewards -and- Ultimate Rewards points are both worth more than $0.01/point. You will need to work out the value of each based on your individual redemption profile. If you were to open the Charles Schwab co-branded version of American Express Platinum the points would have a minimum value of $0.0125 each, which means 5X = 6.25%, but you may do better transferring points to airline partners.

Understood, but does Amex Travel offer refundable rates at all or most hotels, or only when booking an FHR rate at an FHR property?
