You won't get Premium Plus or Premium Economy for free on either UA or on LH. Sorry.

You will get an Economy Plus (some extra legroom) for free on UA flights. You are often able as SAG to get preferred seats (like Exit row) on LH at OLCI or at check-in, but certainly not before and definitely not guaranteed.

Look into looking premium eco tickets, often not much more expensive than regular eco.
