We recently stayed at Miraval AZ on the BOGO offer. We booked AZ after a great stay (and first Miraval experience) in Austin earlier this year (during COVID). I was not impressed and had similar observations that dkc192 had.

Classes/Spa

My wife and I took a few art/photo/exercise classes. All were good but the classes they charge for are not worth the additional expense. Spa is ok and service rates are on par with other nice hotels. We took a “Just Cook for Me” class at $175 a person. It was better than the restaurant but it was just a semi-private dinner. No cooking demos, information about the food, etc.

Room

Asked in advance for a room upgrade but was told none would be available. Same was said upon check-in and we were put into the assigned Dreamcatcher room. Room was very dated, carpet stained, patio was dirty, etc. Our bed shared a wall with a storage room that staff opened and worked in first thing in the morning. Loud and disturbing most of the day. I spoke to staff and looked around during my staff and I would guess that half of the rooms (at least) were unoccupied. No World of Hyatt love here on any level.

Food

The food was not good. I expected small portions (which I like) but it just did not taste that great (burger was cold, avocado salad had a one tiny piece of avo, etc) and it was not presented like I would expect.

The grounds were great with good desert hiking trails. Most of the staff was very helpful and friendly. I would never pay rack rates as the “all inclusive” is not worth the additional expenses for what you get. I could go on and on about this but you can decide for yourself.

BUT...the one night we stayed at the Ritz Dove Mountain (at 1/4 the cost of Miraval) on our last night in AZ was awesome!
