I don't think that substantially more people spent so much money on their Amex card/flew that many miles than would qualify in normal times- particularly given that putting non delta spend on a delta amex is not a good value.
The ‘please don’t cancel this card’ bonuses were pretty good, IMO. It was what? 4x on grocery in the second quarter at a time when my household was increasing grocery spend because we’d stopped going to restaurants and the extra general MQMs and redeemable miles bonus from August onward we’re enough to keep putting spend on the card even after I’d hit the first 25k on it that year and had been planning on shifting to other cards after that.
