Returned to GRR from JNB yesterday. Return was very easy. When entering terminal, they asked that you apply hand sanitizer. Airline check-in desks are all consolidated in 'B' Concourse. QR desk quick and efficient. Then had to walk over to A gates. Just prior to security there is an area to fill out the exit questionnaire. For some reason OR Tambo is not part of the electronic submission process for the exit form even though it is part of the program for entry questionnaires. Once you hand the agent your questionnaire, they shoot your wrist for a temp (I shot a 33c /91f) and apparently I was fine! Once through security, passport control was a snap. The airside terminal 'A' shops are mostly closed. Duty Free is open but NO alcohol sales which is nuts considering its all pax leaving the country. Millions of Rand in missed revenue. Idiotic. 'Out of Africa' is open for souvenirs as is the book shop and ferrari store. The electronics shop also is open. Most everything else is closed. I only noticed one lounge that was open: Mashonzha. Took awhile for agent to accept the QR invitation.
Gate area of course unorganized as usual and social distancing apparently is not well tolerated at the gate areas.
Also, for QR passengers, they're no longer requiring face shields on board.
At boarding, they shoot your temp again prior to letting you down the jet way. I warmed up to a nice 35c by that point.
Quite honestly, in my 8-9 years of traveling to JNB, this trip has been the easiest. Amazing how easy travel is when most are either afraid or not allowed to.
