Unless I'm looking at it wrong, I can't imagine the Plat membership group won't be significantly bloated for years to come. I normally fly 30-35 MQM and get 50 through two Amex cards. With the waiver, I make plat with 15-20 of rollover and it's super helpful on my short east coast hops. But thanks to the new plan and the year-end bonus AMEX MQM promotion, I am rolling over an insane 113K this year. Even if I don't fly and just accrue my typical 50 MQM through the cards, I'll be platinum through 2024!
I think this forum is unrepresentative of how many people have gone to completely zero business and leisure flying for last year and the foreseeable future as a result of the pandemic that has been raging for more than 9 months. I don't think that substantially more people spent so much money on their Amex card/flew that many miles than would qualify in normal times- particularly given that putting non delta spend on a delta amex is not a good value.
