I've wondered of the true value of FAMS.
Given the risks involved by having a FAMS-like program, I would say it's a low enough value to justify much further reductions in the budgeting/headcount for the "service" -- reductions below those that may be done as a result of a drop in air passenger traffic of sorts.
The closer we get to a borderline elimination of the FAMS, the closer we should be able to get to the elimination of the risks of some FAMS' smuggling at taxpayer expense and other questionable behavior.
