  • I'm 48+ months since my last Sapphire bonus (CSR), and I have decided to retain the card in 2021 (AF hits every December) in part because of a $150 statement credit retention offer last week
  • Chase United MileagePlus carries a $95 AF that is doing little for me but I have had it 10+ years and have been advised against ditching it entirely
  • Chase Ink Bold is strictly for office supply GCs; no significant annual spend of office supplies
  • I have a 5-figure credit card purchase to make in early Jan
  • I rarely do take out, even pre-COVID, instead easily spending ~$1,000 per month on Safeway groceries
  • Frequent shopper on Amazon (not Whole Foods, and rarely Amazon Fresh) and have a Prime membership
  • Only 1-2 flights planned in 2021, but they are probably covered by AMEX Plat companion fare and AS companion fare; no hotel or AirBnB stays planned in 2021
  • Credit hovers around 750
I think this means "get the Chase Freedom Unlimited, and very soon before the grocery promo ends," but very open to other ideas.
Chase Ink Preferred offers 100k pts for $15k spend in 3 months. If the spend is something you'd be comfortable putting on a business card, that's an option. And even though it's not in the Chase ecosystem, with 1k spend a month going for the Amex Platinum may be a good idea AFTER you're approved with chase. It's currently offering 75-100k MR points with 6 months to put $5k spend and offering 10pts/$ on grocery spend.
