I for one would love to know how they can legally get away with refusing cash payments!? Surprisingly they now mention BANK CARDS not credit cards, the Sheraton hotel is infamous for not accepting the common EC-Card system which is still the dominant way of facilitating cash payments in Germany (think Interac in Canada even though cc are extremely common in Canada compared to Germany).
For years they only accepted credit card and/or cash advance payment including deposits. I got to know about this because I booked my parents at the Sheraton several years ago (~2016) and they were some of many folks in Germany who didn't have a credit card, simply because you don't need one domestically. This changed a bit now with the whole e-commerce but still only 36% of all German consumers have a credit card.
I wonder if this is valid only for the Marriott side or if the Sheraton is now also accepting "bank cards" once it reopens!?
