Marriott plat here, 53 nights earned in 2020 (well, 28 nights spend in rooms)
Had a 6 night business stay at an aLoft property with checkout yesterday 1 January. I requested 4pm checkout on the app which is where I checked in. Nobody said anything about it at the physical checkin, or during my stay. However on checkout day at 1:40pm, the front desk lady called to inform me that checkout is at 12, but she can do 2pm for me and that 4pm is actually based on availability. Anyways I politely told her that I'm leaving at 330 anyways for her info.
Does this warrant a complaint to corporate? I'm not looking for compensation or to make a ruckus but I really dislike perks being ignored, as I do stay at Marriotts because of 4pm checkout. With SPG as a plat, 4pm was never a struggle, no question except at resort/convention center and even then they would make it work for you their loyal platinum. Now with Marriott even at ex-spg properties this sort of chipping away is happening. Or am I being needy because hotels are not making money and 4pm guaranteed late checkout is no longer guaranteed due rona just like everything else?
Either way they tried getting (kicking?) a plat out of the room with 20 mins notice and I didn't like her tone.
First of all, let us know which property this was.
Secondly, yes it’s worth a complaint. Some here will tell you benefits are suspended, however that was never officially announced by Marriott so I don’t really accept that.
