Comfort + is not equivalent to AA PE. You would need Premium Select for that (don't ask me why Delta decided to name half of its products after laundry solutions).
Delta got themselves on the wrong side of a branding issue when they elected to go with no international first while upgrade business to what is now D1. Other US airlines had an international F and international J. D1 was clearly better than the old style Js. Delta did not want it compared to them, so the D1 name.
Personally I like Spirit Airlines on names. Big Front Seat.
